Caribbean Orange Liqueur
A vibrant homemade orange liqueur crafted by infusing vodka with fresh orange zest and sweetening with superfine sugar. This liqueur requires patience to age but results in a smooth, citrus-forward spirit perfect for cocktails.
Ingredients
- 3 WHOLE Large Oranges (peel only)
- 3 ML Vodka
- 1.33 ML Superfine Sugar
How to Make It
- Pare the rind from the oranges very thinly, ensuring no bitter white pith remains attached.
- Blot the orange peels on paper towels to remove any excess oil.
- Place the peels into a clean 4-cup screw-top jar.
- Pour 2 cups of the vodka over the peels and seal the jar tightly.
- Store the jar in a cool, dark place for 2 days, or until the vodka has absorbed the citrus flavor.
- Remove and discard the orange peels from the jar.
- Add the remaining 1 cup of vodka and the superfine sugar to the infused vodka.
- Seal the jar again and shake well to dissolve the sugar.
- Return the jar to a cool, dark place and allow it to age for at least 1 month before serving.
