Castillian Hot Chocolate
A rich and velvety Spanish-style hot chocolate, characterized by its thick, pudding-like consistency achieved through the use of cornstarch. This batch recipe produces a dense, glossy treat perfect for dipping churros or enjoying as a comforting winter warmer.
Ingredients
- 0.5 ML Cocoa Powder
- 1 ML Sugar
- 7 TSP Cornstarch
- 0.5 ML Water
- 1 ML Milk
How to Make It
- Sift the cocoa powder and sugar together into a medium-sized saucepan to remove any lumps.
- Dissolve the cornstarch in the water in a separate container.
- Stir the cornstarch mixture into the cocoa and sugar in the saucepan until it forms a smooth paste.
- Begin heating the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk.
- Gradually pour in the milk while continuing to whisk to incorporate the liquid.
- Bring the liquid to a simmer, whisking continuously.
- Allow the chocolate to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until the texture becomes thick, glossy, and completely smooth.
- Serve steaming hot. (Note: Recipe makes approximately six servings).
