Orange Scented Hot Chocolate
A sophisticated twist on classic hot cocoa, infusing rich bittersweet chocolate with fragrant orange zest, a deep note of espresso, and spicy nutmeg. The triple-frothing technique ensures a velvety texture suitable for a cozy winter evening.
Ingredients
- 2 ML Milk
- 4 OZ Bittersweet or Semi-Sweet Chocolate (Chopped)
- 3 SLICE Orange Peel (2-inch strips)
- 0.5 TSP Instant Espresso Powder
- 0.125 TSP Ground Nutmeg
How to Make It
- Combine milk, chopped chocolate, orange peel strips, instant espresso, and nutmeg in a heavy medium saucepan.
- Stir continuously over low heat until the chocolate has completely melted.
- Increase the heat and bring the mixture just to a boil while stirring often.
- Remove from heat immediately and whisk vigorously until the mixture is frothy.
- Return the pan to the heat and bring to a boil again.
- Remove from heat and whisk until frothy.
- Repeat the heating and whisking process one final time for maximum frothiness.
- Discard the orange peel strips.
- Pour the hot chocolate into coffee mugs and serve immediately.
